Saturday we subjected Landon to very manly things - the home brew supply store and a local butcher. Kristen and Isaac have been talking up The Local Pig, Kansas City's only full-line butcher shop and charcuterie dedicated to locally sourced products and humanely raised meats. We picked up Rob, went to check it out, and it is our new favorite. We don't eat a ton of meat at our house but when we do this will be our new supplier. We picked up some pork chops, stuffed dates, tamales and a few sausages. Not to turn this into a food blog but we made these really easy and good pork chops for dinner and want to share the recipe.

I was holding Landon the whole time we were at The Local Pig but I didn't make it into this photo. Why? Because Landon sometimes has super sneaky ninja leaks that go right out the leg of his diaper and onto whomever is holding him. Nothing got on his outfit however my shirt and pants were nice and wet. To those of you who are doubting our choice to use cloth diapers - this happened in a disposable!
The little man hit the 1 month milestone! He's starting to smile more and has really been working at holding his head up and looking around. Landon's also vocalizing a lot more so we've had some great conversations involving lots of "Oos" and "Ahhs." We visited the pediatrician for his one month check up and he now weighs 9lbs 8oz (38th percentile) and is 22 inches long (65 percentile). We thought he'd been chunking up but I guess he's actually a little long and skinny right now.
The tag on the boppy pillow says you can prop the baby up like this at 2 months. I tried it a week ago and he slid right down, this week he fits just fine. The little man's growing like a weed!
Aunt Shirley got Landon this fish cover to keep him warm during bath time. He definitely appreciates it!
Tuesday we got to meet up for lunch at Succatash with friends from college. It was great catching up with Beth and Shelby! Their mothering skills lulled Landon right to sleep.
Grandma Janice made sure I had something to wear for my first holiday.
Chris and I were talking about the last few 4th of Julys. One was spent at Table Rock Lake with friends and last year we were camping and kayaking in the Alaskan wilderness. This year we had no plans. I wonder what's changed?
On the 4th Chris brewed up a batch of brown ale that will age this summer and hopefully be enjoyed this fall. Landon and I went on a fun little mission but I can't divulge what we did just yet! We did make it to a large fireworks display in Corporate Woods. We thought we would have to sit in the car with Landon the whole time due to the noise but he didn't mind it at all and fell fast asleep half way through. He was more interested in looking at the street lamps than fireworks anyway!
A sweaty Landon sleeping through the 4th in the back of the Prius. It's been so hot this week!
Saying "hello" after my bath.
I wish he always slept this soundly.
5 Weeks - Dang Hobby Lobby didn't have any 5s and I thought Iphoto would let me add text to my photo but it didn't. Oh well!
If you think Landon looks like he has a little less hair - you are right. He's exhibiting typical male pattern baldness. We think he's losing more hair day by day, however the hair on the back of his head continues to grow long. He should have a skirted egg shell mullet in no time!
Things learned this week:
Shutterfly hooks up new parents. I have a free 20 page baby photo book for Landon, 2 free 8 x 10s and 50 free prints on the way!
Landon's been needing danced around and sang to in order to be soothed this week. Pandora has an awesome "Lullaby" station. It's not just your typical lullabies - we've been singing songs everywhere from Bob Marley to MGMT. Plus when I forget the lyrics they are right there for me (not that Landon knows the difference but it bothers me when I can't remember the right words!)
