Friday night around midnight I was changing Landon's diaper and suddenly thought - something's different. I quickly realized his umbilical cord had fallen off and snuck it's way into the top of his diaper. Chris was cleaning out the basement for our neighborhood dumpster day so I took the stump (which seems kind of gross now) downstairs to show him before I threw it out. 30 minutes later I was changing Landon again (babies go all the time!) and saw his circumcision ring had fallen off. I again took it downstairs (which seems really gross now) to show it to Chris. Within 30 minutes our little guy was a completely changed newborn!
Saturday Grandma Kathy (Chris's Mom) made the trip to KC from Dodge City. She stayed through Monday and was a big help making dinner and doing laundry for us.
Landon and Grandma Kathy
I realized that I never even made it outside on Saturday so I made it a point Sunday morning to get out on the patio. Landon snuggled into his baby sling and I was able to relax on the porch and enjoy breakfast out there too.
Everyone wants to know who Landon looks like. After looking at Chris's baby photos it's pretty apparent he looks just like his Daddy!
Chris also looks a lot like his father (they must have strong genes). Landon's middle name, Frederick, is in honor of Chris's father.

Kathy went back to Dodge City Monday and my Mom came up from Abilene on Monday. Their time up here overlapped a little and we were able to snap this photo.
Landon with both of his Grandmas = lots of love!
Chris and I got spoiled having my Mom here all week. She was busy cooking meals, baking bread, doing laundry and dishes, soothing Landon when he was crying and changing dirty diapers.
She also made it easier for me to get out of the house. On Monday we went to the pediatrician for a weight check and Landon was up to 7lbs 11.5oz. He's gaining about an ounce a day! That was the best news I'd heard because it meant I could stop setting my alarm to wake him up to eat at night! Granted he's only slept an additional 30 minutes on his own but it's so nice not to crawl into bed only to set the alarm to wake me up in an hour.
We've been pretty sleepy around our house this week!
I'd been working through some postpartum complications since Saturday night and when I was finally through with it all that I felt like I had finally recovered from labor. Wednesday morning I felt like such a new person. It's amazing to stand up and not be in pain!
First stroller ride at Loose Park. He slept through the whole thing!
First dinner out at Blue Koi. He did really well!
Wednesday evening Kristen and Isaac came over for family dinner. My Dad was in Louisburg for work so he made a detour before heading home and came over too!

Things we've learned this week:
1. Grandma's are one of the best things on earth!
2. When it comes to certain baby items i.e. diaper cream always buy them in threes - one for upstairs, one for downstairs and one for the diaper bag.
3. Babies go to sleep a lot easier if the last thing you do is feed them - not change their diaper. Finally realizing this has probably gotten me an extra hour of sleep each night this week.
Have a great week everyone!
